The current-generation Toyota Prado 250 launched in Australia in Q4, 2024, with the choice of either five or seven seats.
The five-tier range consists of the GX, GXL, Altitude, VX and tops out with the Kakadu. Equipped with a full-time 4×4 system – and a rear diff lock on higher-spec models – the Prado is a handy off-roader that makes a comfortable lap-of-the-map tourer. As standard, all variants are powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 150kW and 500Nm, which is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. One criticism of the seven-seat variant is the appalling cargo space when the third row of seats is upright.

Warranty
The Prado 250 Series comes with a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty, extendable to seven years for the engine and driveline if serviced through Toyota dealerships. Servicing is required every six months or 10,000km, with capped-price servicing set at $390 per visit for the first 10 services.
Pricing
The Prado ranges from $72,500 to $99,990 before on-road costs. The line-up includes five variants: GX ($72,500), GXL ($79,990), VX ($87,400), Altitude ($92,700), and Kakadu ($99,990). Prices have increased by up to $12,500 over the outgoing model.
