Chevrolet Silverado details
PriceFrom $130,500
ANCAP Safety RatingUnrated
Fuel TypePetrol

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is one of the few full-size American pick-up trucks available in Australia, with the vehicles imported and converted locally by General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV).

Notably heavier, wider and more expensive than the common dual-cab, the Silverado is currently available in two model grades in local showrooms: the LTZ Premium and ZR2. Both of these variants are powered by a stonking 6.2-litre petrol engine producing 313kW and 624Nm, which is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4×4 system.

Pros

  • Spacious and comfy cabin
  • Tows easily. Very strong and stable
  • Smooth power. V8 and 10-speed work well

Cons

  • Low-profile tyres are harsh on rough roads
  • Low payload, so it can’t carry much
  • Petrol only, so it’s thirsty

Warranty

The Silverado is covered by a three-year/100,000km factory warranty, along with three years of roadside assistance, both provided by General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV). This warranty includes parts and labour for major components like the engine, transmission and electrical systems. Some GMSV dealers also offer extended warranty packages of up to eight years through dealer-backed promotions.

Pricing

The Silverado is sold via GMSV, with the 2025 Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium priced from around $130,500 and the off-road ZR2 from $141,500. The heavy-duty 2500 HD LTZ Premium costs about $163,000. All prices exclude on-road costs.
