2026 Toyota HiLux build: MSA 4x4 towing mirrors

MSA 4×4 changed the game for towing mirrors when it launched its towing mirrors several years ago, and since then it has made them available for all popular current 4×4 models.

The Queensland-based company’s design eliminates the need for temporary clip-on mirrors, providing a factory-style solution that works whether towing or not. 

When tucked into their standard non-towing position, the MSA mirrors (↗) look just like regular OEM products. If your vehicle has indicators in the housings, blind-spot indicators, heated mirror glass or surround-view cameras hidden inside, the MSA replacements will generally retain all of those functions.

The mirrors get clever when you need a broader view of what’s behind. If you only need a small increase in rear view, you can simply rotate the rectangular mirror head for extra width.

Want more? Just slide the mirror out on the arms for full rear viewing, and again you have the choice of having the mirror head vertical or horizontal, whichever suits your driving or what you might be towing.

A closer look

MSA 4×4 towing mirrors (↗) are designed as a full replacement for the factory mirror assembly, with a patented, ADR-compliant design engineered specifically for Australian towing conditions. Unlike clip-on mirrors, the MSA units integrate with the vehicle while providing additional viewing width when required.

The mirrors feature four different driving positions, with the large single mirror lens mounted on a heavy-duty extension slide and pivot mechanism. When towing, the mirror can be extended outwards to provide a wider field of view, then returned to the standard position when not towing. The mirror head can also be adjusted vertically or horizontally to suit different vehicles, trailers and driver preferences.

Construction uses injection-moulded and die-cast aluminium components for strength and durability, while the pivot design allows the mirrors to fold inwards or outwards if required. Depending on the vehicle application, MSA 4×4 towing mirrors are available with features including electric adjustment, heated glass, indicators, blind-spot monitoring compatibility, camera provisions and power-fold functionality to match the original vehicle specification.
