ANCAP Safety Rating | 5 stars |
Fuel Type | Hybrid |
The GWM Tank 500 is a comprehensively well-equipped three-row seven-seat large 4×4 wagon that costs significantly less than the LandCruiser 300 Series, but it is loaded with similar equipment found in higher-spec Toyota equivalents.
There are currently two models available for the body-on-frame Tank 500, Luxury and Ultra, with the upper-spec model still retailing for less than $80,000. The 500’s hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor, for a total output of 255kW and a juicy 642Nm – this system runs through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Tank 500 also features an on-demand dual-range transfer case, as well as front, centre and rear locking diffs.

- Smooth and responsive engine and transmission
- Ample room for passengers and cargo, with thoughtful storage options
