The Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series was Australia’s flagship large SUV from 2007 until it was phased out in 2021, replaced by the 300 Series.
Known for its combination of rugged off-road ability and spacious luxury, it came with a powerful 4.5-litre V8 turbo-diesel or a 5.7-litre petrol V8 in earlier years. The 200 Series earned a strong following for towing, comfort, and durability, making it a favourite among both trades and family buyers. Although no longer sold new, it remains popular on the used market for those needing serious capability in a full-size SUV.
Pros
- Proven V8 diesel with strong towing and touring credentials
- Comfortable and spacious interior suited to long-distance travel
- Strong resale value and wide aftermarket support
Cons
- Thirsty on fuel, especially around town
- Bulky to drive and park in urban areas
- Dated tech and safety features compared to newer rivals
