Almost 1400 MY23 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles have been recalled in Australia over a software fault that could delay side airbag deployment in a crash.
The recall affects 1394 WL-generation Grand Cherokees supplied by Stellantis Australia and New Zealand. According to the recall notice, a software issue with the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) module may cause the front-door airbag pressure sensors to remain active. This could delay side airbag deployment in a crash, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.
Owners of affected vehicles should contact their nearest authorised Jeep dealer to arrange a software update, which will be carried out free of charge.
Owners can view the official recall notice and affected VIN list (↗) to see whether their vehicle is affected, or contact Stellantis Australia on 1800 870 71 or at [email protected] for further information.
The MY23 Grand Cherokee range was offered in five-seat and seven-seat configurations, with a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine available across most variants. The five-seat Summit Reserve 4xe was offered exclusively with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Jeep withdrew the Grand Cherokee from the Australian market in 2025, with Stellantis Australia announcing in March that it was pausing local availability to better align its range with local demand. The model continues to be sold in overseas markets.
