Ram Trucks has reintroduced the wild TRX version of its 1500-class pick-up in the USA, and the Australian distributor says it is keen to see it back in our Ram showrooms.

At the relaunch of the RAM 1500 Express model last month, a Ram Trucks Australia (RTA) spokesman stated that the company was very keen to see the range-topping model back in Australia, and it is working out the details right now, but it is not 100 per cent confirmed as yet.

The Ram TRX is a US$100,000 truck in its home country, and it was double that when it was last sold in Australia, and potential buyers shouldn’t expect a reintroduced TRX to come any cheaper.

The good news is that, should the TRX make a comeback in Australia, it is now pumping out more power than ever, with the supercharged Hemi V8 engine now producing a claimed 777 horsepower. That’s 579kW in the modern world!

The 2027 Ram TRX again features high-end Bilstein dampers for ultimate off-road performance, and its oversized wheels and tyres give it a presence that is unrivalled out on the tracks.

Things to be ironed out for RTA before it can confirm the return of the TRX include the re-engineering process. As it doesn’t mean simply firing up the old conversion process from the previous model. The new TRX has newer systems on board, and RTA is working with its re-manufacturing partners to see how this would fit into the program. But the RTA team is super keen to make it happen.

The team also mentioned an interest in the recently unveiled Ram Rumble Bee, which is an old-school muscle truck tuned for more on-road performance and featuring the same 777hp supercharged Hemi powerplant.

If RTA can bring either the TRX or Rumble Bee, or both SRT trucks, to Australian showrooms, it will bring a whole new level of excitement to US pick-ups in this country. Our fingers are crossed that they can make it happen.
