Chinese electric SUV brand iCAUR confirms V25 for Australia

Chinese electric SUV brand iCAUR will launch in Australia in early 2027, with the V25 confirmed as its first local model.

Founded in 2023, iCAUR is part of Chery Group and is the latest brand from the automotive giant to enter Australia. The V25 is expected to bring a more rugged, off-road-inspired look, with Chinese-market specifications providing an early indication of what to expect.

In China, the V25 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol range extender paired with a 33.68kWh battery, with all-wheel drive available. It has claimed approach and departure angles of 28 and 24 degrees respectively. Over there, the V25 measures 4636mm long, 1920mm wide and 1855mm tall, while towing capacity has been reported at up to 1800kg. It also features a digital cabin and driver assistance technology.

A larger V27 is expected to follow, although iCAUR has not yet confirmed when it will arrive in Australia. The V27 is the brand’s flagship large SUV, measuring 5045mm long with a 2900mm wheelbase. Chinese-market versions combine retro-inspired off-road styling with an extended-range electric powertrain, with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine acting as a generator rather than driving the wheels.

The all-wheel-drive V27 produces 335kW from a 34kWh battery, with claimed electric-only range of 150km, total range of up to 995km and a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds. Despite its rugged appearance, the V27 uses a unibody platform rather than a traditional body-on-frame chassis, positioning it as more of a family touring SUV with light off-road capability.

Australian specifications for the V25, including its final powertrain, drivetrain, ground clearance, towing capacity and equipment levels, are yet to be confirmed. Pricing and final launch timing will also be announced closer to its Australian arrival.

The V25 will make its Australian public debut at Everything Electric Sydney from September 18-20, 2026.
