BYD Shark project vehicle

1
We bought a Shark, and we’ve already thrown it into the deep end – crossing the Simpson Desert. The plan is to build it into a proper touring rig, using some of the best 4×4 aftermarket gear available in Australia and putting it through a series of long-term, real-world tests.
The plug-in hybrid ute pairs a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine with dual electric motors, producing 321kW and 650Nm. It has a claimed electric-only range of 100km and around 800km combined. It comes with a solid list of standard features including a rotating infotainment screen, wireless phone mirroring, and driver aids.
